LyricNotes, Vol. II
I’m officially a cripple, now all I need is some government assistance.
Funny how these things work out, we are getting closer and closer to starting this theater. We have a place now, looks like we might get a loan, the investors are coming right along, then BOOM, you fall on a flower pot injuring one of the most vital appendages on your body….your pinkie. Never fails, happens every time. I guess it’s as serious as a pinkie injury can get…severed all tendons, nerves and arteries. The catch phrase for the doctors is “you did a good job with this one,” like it takes years of dedicated study and vigorous training to almost cut you damn finger off.
At any rate, enough about my flawless stupidity, the theater is at a pretty crucial cross road, we have to decide if we are going make this a one or two screen theater. The history here is that we had originally anticipated opening a one screen because none of the places we looked at were big enough to house two screens, then we found 300 E. Mountain and the owner was even willing to lease it to us. BONUS! It’s big enough for two screens, but it turns out that the sound proofing is a tremendous expense, plus redoing the already new HVAC system so that the sound won’t carry through the ducts. So, all in all, we are looking at bare minimum $50,000 on top of an already inflated remodel budget. Ugh. So it's either start later at a high cost with two screens, or risk making less money with one….and make no joke about it, this is a very serious conundrum, even our theater owner mentors don’t know what to say. There are serious benefits and costs to going either way that boggle the mind to compare….I think I would sever another finger just attempting to type down the complexities.
I will let all my avid readers know what we decide when the time comes.
